Fany BombonsToday is Valentine’s Day in Brazil. It is quite a different day than February 14th in the United States. It’s mainly a day for couples to celebrate their relationship, to have a romantic dinner, exchange gifts, etc. There is no greeting card exchange with friends or loved ones who are not involved romantically.

As a single person, you tend not to care so much for this day, or you dread the day, or you don’t even think about it. The main issue is when you go out and you see all the restaurants with candle light dinners, and all the happy couples around. Here are a few good self-love attitudes to consider and practice love for self with or without a romantic relationship:

  • Write a greeting card, to you from you. Why not? Say all the beautiful things you appreciate about yourself, who you are, how you treat your mind, body, spirit. Congratulate yourself on being you and declare your love for yourself.
  • Buy flowers. Give yourself the gift of flowers. Or if you are more like a chocolate person, then buy your favorite brand and flavor. Give yourself permission to treat you on this day.
  • Invite single friends over for a dinner celebration of the love you feel for each other, show them how much you appreciate having them in your life.
  • Listen to uplifting music and dance to it. Let yourself be nurtured by the sounds you love so much.

Now, if you are in a relationship and live in the U.S., this is a great excuse to add romance to your day and evening. June 12th, Brazilian Valentine’s Day.

How are you practicing self-love today?

Have a beautiful and self-loving day and evening,

Elisa

PS. Yes, if I can find a flower shop in my new neighborhood, that is still open by the time I get home tonight, I will buy flowers. 😉
