I Have Faith and Maybe Chocolate

ballI missed the semifinal World Cup game Brazil vs Germany yesterday afternoon. I was commuting and checking in disbelief the score on an app on my phone. By the time I got home, it was half time, and by then there was no point in watching it anymore. (I’m happy to see many positive messages starting to pop up, as it relates to our personal and spiritual growth, during “good” and “bad” times, but this article is not about the World Cup.)

On my way home as I followed the game, I thought how nice it would be if the box of chocolate my mother had mailed to me last week would have arrived. It would at least be something good to balance the events of that afternoon. I imagined two scenarios: either there would be a delivery note in my mailbox for me to pick it up, or as it happened once before, the postman would have left the box there for me, even without a signature.

Needless to say I was somewhat disappointed that neither option happened. As I was working from home today, I took a moment to Skype with my mother. She had tracked the package, and it said that an attempt was made to deliver it yesterday. Since I had some time before my next meeting, I walked to the Post Office, ID and Brazilian package tracking number in hand. I wrote my name, address and tracking number on a piece of paper (my ID still shows my previous address), and I told the post office worker that the package was a box.

He came back a little later asking if I knew the size of the box. After receiving packages from Brazil many times before, I had a pretty good idea of its size, so I gestured it to him. While waiting, I could easily have been in drama or panic mode: “what if he can’t find it since I don’t have a delivery note?”, “what if there is no note because they were going to try again today, and now I’m not home?”, “what if it’s lost in the post office like it happened once before?”, and other equally disempowering thoughts. But I made a difference choice. As I patiently waited, I started sending good vibes and light that he would find the box with ease. I also set the intention that I was walking out of there with the box.

The person in line behind me got impatient and said: “He will NOT find your package; he has been back and forth many times.” I turned to her and simply affirmed “I have faith.” When I turned back, a few seconds later, the Post Office worker was coming back with my package. He said he had passed by it several times before, and couldn’t see it until now. I was grateful.

I invite you to consider the following questions next time you are facing an uncertain situation, be it in life, business, career, or at the Post Office:

  • How am I setting myself up?
  • How is my mindset?
  • If it’s not a creator’s mindset, how can I shift it?
  • Where is my faith? Is it in surrendering/making it happen no matter what, or is it in failing/giving up/anticipating being defeated?
  • What thoughts will support the outcome I desire to create?
  • If indeed things aren't working out as planned, what can I do to shift my energy/mood/perspective? Chocolate may be the answer at times. ; )

Always remember to breathe, ground yourself, and visualize the outcome you would like to create.

Namaste,

Elisa Balabram

PS. I also have faith that Brazilian soccer will turn around. Most of all, I have faith that Brazil will continue waking up, and create a movement of positive change that will impact ours and generations to come.

  1. I think we all have faith that Brazilian soccer will turn around. Brazilians are, after all, both warm and resilient! Thanks for your positive thoughts. Glad you received your package 🙂 http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB40001424052702303833804580019053909911796?tesla=y&mg=reno64-wsj

  2. Great article! Yes. We can always use more chocolate ~ particularly when it comes from overseas, from Mom! 🙂

As for faith - yes, It is a lot about 'positioning', isn't it? Our ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts) can make anthills in our mind, which destroys faith. Let's get rid of those anthills 🙂

    Namaste. Kumud

      Hi Kumud,

I love the idea of getting rid of the ANTs!
