Simple1How is your spiritual practice? How long have you been in it? Is there room to simplify it? Or does it need to be more complex instead?

I’m always seeking to learn and evolve, although sometimes it feels like I’m learning more of the same thing. I used to resist when someone was sharing something I had heard a million times, now I simply say thank you. Because we can forget, and we do need to be reminded of the magic we are capable of creating.

I find that even when we learn a tool, it doesn't mean that we have to follow it to the letter, though. I’ve been learning and doing my best to practice simplicity, not worrying too much about the “right” way of doing something, and simply allowing it to unfold, and trusting myself to know what to do.

The other day I had the opportunity to share this concept with one of my clients. She was asking about a meditation I had taught her. She wanted to know the exact steps I had shared, and confirm if she was doing it the “right” way. I told her to simply follow her intuition, and allow the meditation to flow as it will, for her highest good. I’m a strong believer that you can trust your own intuition when in meditation, although I don’t deny that at times, there is power into following a guided meditation. When I follow guided meditations, sometimes I need to pause the recording to have enough time to go on a deeper journey than the one the guided meditation may be leading me into.

The same goes for writing intentions and affirmations. I created a mantra to go on a scary hike once, I wrote about it here: I’m safe, I’m centered, I’m supported. When we got to the top of the mountain, I shared the mantra with a few people who were opened to it. The other day, one of them mentioned that she has used it again and again, but she didn’t know she had created her own mantra, which only included one of the items in mine. And it is perfect that way.

I’ve also learned to set intentions for the day, from the book “The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham” by Esther Hicks and Jerry Hicks. It took me a while to start applying it, for whatever reason. When I did it, I was writing on my journal several intentions: My intention is to finish project XYZ today, My intention is to write a new blog post today, My intention is to be present with my client, My intention is to teach a great class, My intention is to have a peaceful and productive day, My intention is… Even though, the instructions from the book were to set one intention at a time.

Finally, just a couple of months ago, I realized that I needed to simplify it, and set an underlying intention that would serve in any situation, and this is what came up: My intention is to give and receive love. I’m still falling back into writing more tangible and specific intentions, though – It all takes practice. Every growth, every new experience takes practice. And sometimes we need reminders from friends, from teachers, from life. I see myself often reminding others, and being reminded myself, of the lessons we have learned over and over again. It is all good, as we grow.

Take a moment to focus on breathing, and to think of the meditations you follow, and the affirmations and intentions you say to yourself. Then ask yourself:

  • Do they resonate for me?
  • Could they be adjusted to better align with my needs in this moment?
  • What would my meditation routine look like if I simply allowed myself to trust my intuition and inner guidance?
  • What would be a great loving and simple mantra for me to repeat to myself as often as it is needed?

If it resonates for you, remind yourself that it’s fine to let go of something you heard from someone else that doesn't feel right for you. Allow yourself to take ownership of what’s best for you, and let go of what does not feel good.

Feel free to share if you receive any messages from your intuition.

I prepared the course “Connect with your Intuition” that will start on July 7th with the same mindset. There will be guided meditations, writing exercises, and specific, yet flexible, strategies. Most importantly, you will have simple tools to help you go deeper within to receive the answers you need from your highest self and for your highest good. You can learn more and register here.

Cheers to keeping it simple, and to trusting your own intuition,
