Looking at the Big Picture

pictureI hope you had a wonderful and meaningful New Year's celebration! I had the opportunity to spend it with family and it was wonderful to be in their presence.

As a week has gone by in 2014, I'd like to remind you of how important it is to look at the big picture – we all know this, but then when something happens or doesn't according to plan, we tend to forget it.

I shared before that every December I usually write what I want to accomplish in the coming year, and all that I accomplished during the year. I then take a look at the goals I wrote at the end of the previous year. Did I accomplish them or didn't I?

When I compared my lists of goals for 2013 that I wrote in December 2012, with what actually happened, in a way I hadn't accomplished much of what I thought I wished to create in my life. If I had only looked at the list of all that didn't happen, it would probably leave me depressed, stuck, and very disappointed. As I compared that list with the list of highlights of 2013, I realized that I accomplished so much more and it was much more meaningful than I could have imagined.

  • No, I haven't published the short story I wrote on mending a broken heart. But I have worked on it, and the story has grown and it is much richer because it hasn't been published yet.
  • No, I'm not in a meaningful relationship yet, but so much healing and releasing took place in 2013, that I feel better prepared for what's to come.
  • No, I haven't written one of the other books I intend to write, but the idea is growing each day.
  • No, my business isn't at its full potential yet, but it is becoming much more aligned with who I am each day.

In addition, I didn't expect to experience so much personal growth and indeed I did:

  • I expressed my needs more often, even surprising myself at times.
  • I worked on releasing and letting go, and once I committed to this process, much healing took place, including heart mending, weight loss, and incredible new opportunities and connections.
  • I responded to the inspiration I received to start the self-love challenge – and the rest is history. 😉
  • I took the leap and moved to a neighborhood I knew little about, and it turned out to be a key move.
  • I practiced and still am practicing making choices based mostly on self-love, and not so much on being perfect or on being perceived by others a certain way. → Life changing!

If you felt in any way disappointed at the end of 2013, that you were not further along in your healing, in your career, in your business, in your relationship, and/or in your life, take a moment to look at the big picture, and to acknowledge all that you did achieve, and all the growth that took place. Then, acknowledge how your growth and transformation have prepared you to achieve new heights in 2014.

If you would like to make 2014 a great year for your life and business, and would like to consider working with a coach, I am scheduling the free introductory call for the week of January 13th. Feel free to contact me to schedule a session.

Namaste,
